Here’s a free budget worksheet (Excel) you can use to count down how much money you need to earn to make your monthly budget. It occurred to me that it’s sometimes overkill to use an accounting program when all you’re doing is picking up a few jobs a month.
CAVEAT: This is a very simple and approximate tool. In other words, you really need to get yourself a good bookkeeper or accountant! But, you can use this tool to estimate how much more you need to make as each day of the month passes.
If you’re running Excel with the macro security level set to High, you’ll need to either reset it to Medium to use the macro-based version of the worksheet, or just use the second link below to pick up the non-macro version.

Hi everybody,
It turns out that if you have your Excel macro security level set to High or Highest, you won’t be able to use this worksheet. I could buy a code-signing certificate but frankly, I don’t post downloads of this sort often enough to justify the $300-$900 cost for the cert.
You can lower your macro security level to Medium and the spreadsheet calculations will run just fine. I ran the spreadsheet through a virus checker before I uploaded it to the site, and you can also run it through your own virus checker just to be safe.
Sorry for the inconvenience! If I find a cheaper way to get a code-signing certificate, I’ll do it and repost.
