Copywriting Problems?

Chances are, you need to write something up for your business from time to time. Sales letters, online ads, web content, articles, proposals, thank you notes. Believe it or not, you could use some good copywriting tips for all of these types of content, and many others.

Having been a writer for 30 years, it doesn’t surprise me anymore when I hear people discount the difficulty of writing something meaningful, persuasive, accurate, technically sound, or simply comprehensible.

I chalk it up to the fact that we all learn to write in school, which makes us think that that’s all there is to it.

Nobody thinks twice about hiring somebody to design a logo, write a piece of software, or host their website. But when it comes to creating a piece of written content that persuades a prospect to become a customer, it’s uncanny how many people just assume they can handle it themselves. After all, how hard can it be?

Whether you choose to write your own copy or hire a professional, you’ll be well-served by spending some time on these websites:

Copyblogger – Where Brian Clark dispenses unbeatable copywriting advice.

Gary Halbert’s Archive – Sadly, Gary Halbert died recently, but he left an incredible resource behind. Thanks to his sons, his site is still up for now. There are many, many valuable lessons in his writings here.
