Content Connections, a full-service publishing and book marketing company, has an interesting survey online, which you can take here:
I took the survey, and while I’m not sure what the results will be used for, I found the questions and some of the sample positioning statements fascinating. In fact, no surprise but they are confirming what many of us have known for a while now: social media is just at the early stages of recognition by the wider public. By wider I mean the general public that doesn’t spend hours every day researching or even using various social media tools.
In the last six weeks I’ve read 7 or 8 books on the topic, from Mark Buchanan’s Nexus to Paul Gillin’s The New Influencers
and everybody on either side or in-between! Why? Well, I’m writing my own book, as a matter of fact. Let’s call it an attempt to get to the applied aspects of social networking for business. In addition, I’ll be co-teaching a couple of courses early in 2008 on Web 2.0 applications and social networking, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, you might be interested in taking the survey. If nothing else, you get to download some pretty cool paper model plans at the end. For a real eye-opener, download and read the Content Connections survey on Women in Books 2007.
