If you’ve worked your way through the huge number of get-rich-on-the-Internet ebooks, zines, blogs, podcasts, videos, and jerks, and you’re still working your day job, don’t feel bad. Consider it part of the process of elimination. Over the years, I’ve read and paid for a few of these programs myself. Sometimes they actually seemed to have something to say. Sometimes I actually learned something from them. Usually, though, they’re not sustainable business models. The question is, how can I create a real online business?
A relatively new community I’ve been learning a lot from is Brian and Tony Clark’s Teaching Sells program. I’ll admit that after reading Brian’s Copyblogger for the past few months (and using the Copyblogger template!), it made my decision to join much easier. The guy knows his stuff. He knows how to write and his advice is both informative and entertaining. In short, he’s built up a lot of credibility with me.
I haven’t yet completed the content that’s currently available on the Teaching Sells site, but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m impressed. Brian and Tony have created a program with teeth in it. It’s a program about creating online learning programs and communities around your niche topics. Sections on positioning, instructional design, and tools, just to name a few, are well-written, packed with useful information, and combine a variety of presentation techniques. They walk the walk.
In addition, these guys have drawn a crowd of smart, creative, and motivated subscribers who are helpful and encouraging. The forums are as valuable to me as the content.
Creating online learning content is not for everybody. But, it’s a way for anybody who wants to provide actionable, solid educational content online to do so easily and relatively cheaply. If you’re interested, I encourage you to click the banner below to get a copy of Brian Clark’s Teaching Sells Free Report, which provides the comprehensive background and description of the program.
The program itself consists of a series of lessons which you can read, listen to, and engage in at your own pace, and in any order you choose. You’ll learn about using tools like Camtasia, a screen recording program, and AMember, an open source online community framework, as well as other incredibly useful products.
And you’ll meet a number of very engaging and smart writers, designers, cartoonists, crafters, Internet marketers, and teachers of all types. It’s worth a look, in my opinion, so take a look at the free report and then decide if it’s right for you.
