For the last few months, I’ve been working with a great team of people over at click2try, a community site that lets you try Open Source software easily, without the hassles of installation or configuration. The click2try site manages to harness several information technology trends in one neat package.
Their entire site, including the virtualization software that lets you run applications right from your browser, was built with Open Source software: Xen hypervisor, Joomla! CMS, and other OSS apps.
Just recently I completed researching and writing a white paper for them, that explains how several critical information technology trends are coming together in places like the click2try site. These trends include virtualization, Open Source, energy efficiency, SaaS (subscription based software), and of course, the cloud.
